Big Cork Vineyards is a picturesque winery centered in the historic rolling hills of southern Washington County, MD. They boast an award-winning lineup of wines, play host to a variety of musical events and concerts, and have a romantic sense of freedom and excitement that comes from the spontaneous celebration of life.
THE BRAND
You can’t argue with a great name. Big Cork is unique, playful and memorable. It’s short, easy to say, rolls off the tongue, is quick to read and definitely conjures up some strong visual references. Everything at Big Cork Vineyards is big. The experience, the taste, the location, the customer care, the personalities of the staff, the liveliness…all of it. It’s more than just a place or a thing, it’s an experience. A memorable one at that.
THE PROJECT
Each year Big Cork hosts its Summer Concert Series, featuring three unique musical events. In 2019, the series started with the Red, White & Rosé Backyard BBQ – an upscale, patriotic kick-off to the summer. The poster design features whimsical illustrations of the vineyard and skyline, paired with interesting typography. We took a trip to the UK in creating the poster for the second event in the series – a Beatles Tribute Band! Playing-off of the graphic Union Jack flag, the poster design uses bold colors and stylized typography that mimics typography seen in the 1960s. The final event of the series was a farewell “End of Summer Bash.” This design utilizes sunset colors and features one of the iconic Big Cork “littles” catching some final rays before the summer ends.
