The ADDY Awards represent the true spirit of creative excellence by recognizing all forms of advertising in media of all types, creative by all sizes and entrants of all levels. The ADDYs are the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition, attracting over 60,000 entries every year in local ADDY competitions.
The 2013 AAF-GF ADDY Awards, dubbed “ADDYs Under the Big Top” was vibrantly painted with a vintage circus theme. Held on Saturday, February 2, this year’s event showcased the larger-than-life creative and advertising talent in the Greater Frederick area. Oh, and let’s not forget to mention the unicyclist and sword swallower, the mac & cheese bar, the intermission candy, nachos and soft pretzel buffet, and the sky-high draped walls where entries seemed to float in mid-air for all to see!
We feel honored to be recognized for our creative work, and send many congratulations to all who participated in this year’s competition. There is great talent in the Frederick area!
Here is a little more about each of our winning projects:
Gold ADDY – IEC 2012 Convention Save the Date
We’ve had the pleasure of working with the The Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) on their annual convention materials for the past few years. We wanted to do something a little different for the 2012 Save the Date, something that would “wow” the membership and really get them excited about the upcoming event! After a productive brainstorming meeting with IEC, we decided on a brochure that transforms into a full-sized poster. The poster needed to be interesting so the recipients would want to hang it up in their office. We were inspired by the host city of Fort Worth, TX (yee-haw!), and wanted it to be “western without being too western.” Our design solution paired classic western elements with bold, modern color-blocking (and a steer or two). We printed the piece on Neenah Classic Crest Stipple finish paper, which added a tactile dimension, much to our delight! Many thanks to the team at IEC for their continued collaboration, and to Mount Royal Printing for a fantastic print job.
Silver ADDY – Brewer’s Alley Wedding Alt Packaging
After designing the Brewer’s Alley Wedding Alt Packaging in 2011, we had the honor of working on the next packaging campaign in the craft-brew series: the Opera House Pale Ale. Taking the vintage pin-up girl into the Opera House, she is playfully being yanked off stage as she belts out her tune. We hand-painted our singing diva, using the Wacom Tablet. A big thanks to Phil Bowers of Brewer’s Alley and Scott Grove PR for bringing us into this great series of projects! We’re in the concept phase for the next in the series, a Czech-style Pilsner, and are looking forward to bringing our vintage girl to life once again.
Silver ADDY – Bare Bites, Brew Bites, Bare Bits Packaging
DARE TO GO BARE! We had so much fun designing the brand identity and packaging for these 100% all-natural dog and cat treats. We wanted this packaging to jump off the shelf, so we implemented a bright color palette along with a friendly design to attract consumers. A big shout out to the Bare Bites gang, Allison Levit and Emily Bish – their treats are now sold in 15 states across the US! Way to go! And, thanks for being awesome people — we just simply love you gals!
Silver ADDY – Norge Dental Center website
Norge Dental Center wanted to bring a woman-focused softness to their online brand aesthetic, bring information and value to their site visitors, and capture new patient leads. With the launch of their re-designed website, complete with Think Baseline-designed free downloadables, and other great site features, their customer conversion rate has seen a lot of growth. Douglas, part of the Norge Dental Tooth Fairy Kit, takes center stage with their young patients, and provides a friendly face during their dental visit. It’s always pleasure working with the very talented New North on the development of the site. Thanks for rocking it out once again!
What a great year! We really enjoyed working with these clients to create new brand materials, and improve their brand aesthetic. We love to see the success of their businesses, and feel fortunate to be a part of their advertising and graphic design efforts. We’re looking forward to doing great things for our clients in 2013, and are excited to be surrounded by so many amazing and talented people!
