D. A. Dunlevy

Client Challenge:

How do you bring a brand into the present while respecting the past?

D. A. Dunlevy started as a small, family-owned landscaping company in 1982, expanding to a 60-person business serving the Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. areas. They provide comprehensive services for the design, build, and maintenance of high-end, luxury outdoor spaces.

THE CHALLENGE

This well-established family business has evolved into a successful, respected, and talented team of experts in the art of creating exquisite outdoor living spaces. The outdated brand needed to be elevated without losing the sense of where it all started—and that included keeping some elements of the former logo and branding. The company’s messaging also needed to be addressed to give it a tone and voice aligned with the more luxurious and elegant aesthetics.

THE SOLUTION

Our team began with the company’s logo, creating a refreshed design that tied in the history and nodded to a sister business. We then assessed the brand and how to best elevate it to meet the higher-end work and the clientele that is seeking these services. Through design and messaging, we established a new way of communication for a brand needing some polish. The design is clean and editorial, with opulent, inviting photography to draw you into each outdoor space. The messaging point of view was shifted from the business to the client, creating a compelling, relatable, and aspirational connection that effectively engages the visitor.
